How Flex Pay works when you book travel
It only takes a few simple steps to confirm your trip and set up Flex Pay at checkout.
Pick the package or flight first
Flex Pay is chosen at checkout on the seller's site, not added to a booking afterwards. Choose your dates and price before you apply.
Select the monthly option
Choose Flex Pay at checkout (WestJet labels it Pay Monthly) and enter the short application. You get a decision straight away.
Choose your plan
If you are approved you see the plans offered for your purchase, including the APR and the monthly amount, before you confirm.
Pay monthly, travel when you like
Payments are fixed and automatic. You can travel before the balance is paid, but leave a few days between booking and departure for processing.
When Flex Pay makes sense
- Larger package totals where four short payments would be too steep
- Travellers who want a fixed monthly amount and a known end date
- Anyone booking an Air Canada Vacations package who qualifies for a promotional 0% rate
Things to watch out for
- Not everyone is approved, and the rate you are offered can sit near the top of the range
- It cannot be combined with other payment methods, so the whole purchase goes on the plan
- Hotel-only bookings are excluded on Air Canada Vacations, and WestJet's page describes flights, upgrades and bags
- Interest can add up. Compare the total you will repay with the price of simply saving first
