Common questions
Buy now, pay later for travel: FAQs
What does buy now, pay later mean for travel?
You book a trip now and repay the cost in instalments, either through a lender such as Flex Pay, Affirm, Klarna, Afterpay or Sezzle, or through a travel seller's own deposit plan. Some plans are interest-free and some charge interest. Check each provider's terms before you accept.
Can I pay for a vacation package in instalments in Canada?
Yes, where the seller offers it. Air Canada Vacations offers Flex Pay on vacation packages and a separate pay-a-deposit option for bookings made at least 45 days before departure. Other sellers have their own checkout options, so check before you book.
Is buy now, pay later cheaper than a credit card?
It can be, when a plan is interest-free and you pay on time. A plan with a 14.99% to 34.99% APR can cost as much as or more than a card. Compare the total you will repay, not just the monthly amount.
Will buy now, pay later affect my credit?
Checking your options often uses a soft check that does not affect your score, but providers differ and some plans are reported or assessed more fully. Read each provider's terms before you accept. Only commit to what your budget can carry.
What happens if I cancel or change my trip?
The loan and the booking are separate. Cancelling a trip does not automatically cancel your payment plan, so check both the travel seller's refund rules and your plan's terms. Confirm current terms with both before you book.
Does TripRadr offer buy now, pay later?
No. TripRadr is an independent comparison site. We do not sell trips, take payments or arrange credit. We explain the options and link to the providers and travel sites that offer them.
