How it works

How to choose a rewards program for a vacation

Follow these simple steps to earn on your trip and make your points count.

  1. Find the price first

Compare the same vacation package across sites on TripRadr.

  2. Check which program the seller supports

ShopTravel pairs with Tripfetti, Air Canada Vacations with Aeroplan, Sunwing with WestJet Rewards, and Expedia with One Key.

  3. Compare what you earn and what points are worth

A lower price can beat a bigger points bonus. Look at the cash value of what you would earn.

  4. Add your member number before you travel

Most programs need your number on the booking before departure or at check-in to credit the trip.

Rewards and pay later can work together

Some travel sites let you earn points on a trip and spread the cost over time. Terms differ by seller.

Things to keep in mind

Before you chase points

  • Programs change often.

Earn rates, tiers and partners shift, and Air Miles became Blue Rewards in 2026.

  • Points are not cash.

Value depends on how you redeem, and offers have minimum stays, caps and exclusions.

  • TripRadr does not run these programs.

Common questions

Travel rewards in Canada: FAQs

What is a travel loyalty program?

A free membership that earns points or credit when you book or fly, which you can later use as a discount or toward a booking. In Canada the main ones for vacations are Tripfetti (ShopTravel), Aeroplan, WestJet Rewards, Scene+, Blue Rewards (formerly Air Miles) and Expedia One Key. Programs differ in what they earn and how you can use it. Each program's own terms apply, so confirm current terms before you book.

Which loyalty programs earn points on vacation packages in Canada?

ShopTravel's Tripfetti earns 1.5% on vacation packages. Aeroplan earns fixed points on Air Canada Vacations packages. WestJet Rewards earns 1 point per dollar on eligible Sunwing Vacations packages. Scene+ Travel, Blue Rewards Travel and Expedia One Key all run through Expedia-powered booking sites.

How do I earn points on a package I find on TripRadr?

It depends on the travel site you book with. Book ShopTravel to earn Tripfetti, Air Canada Vacations to earn Aeroplan, Sunwing to earn WestJet Rewards, or Expedia to earn One Key, and add your member number before you travel. TripRadr itself does not award points.

Are points worth more than a discount?

Not always. Fixed-point programs such as Aeroplan reward the booking rather than the price, while Scene+ at 100 points per $1 and One Key's 1 for 1 OneKeyCash give a clearer cash value. Compare what you would earn with the lowest price you can find.

Can I use points and also pay over time?

Sometimes. Some sites let you use points toward part of a trip and pay the rest with a plan such as Flex Pay. Terms differ by seller, so check the checkout and see our guide to buying now and paying later.

Does TripRadr run a loyalty program?

No. TripRadr is an independent comparison site. We explain the programs and link to the travel sites that run them, and we do not award, sell or redeem points.
