About Singles Day
Singles Day falls on November 11, written 11.11, because the four ones stand for four people on their own. It began on university campuses in China in the 1990s, commonly dated to 1993, as a day for single people to celebrate themselves. Alibaba turned it into an online sale in 2009, and it has grown into one of the largest shopping days in the world. A third-party tracker, Syntun, put 2025 sales at about 1.7 trillion yuan. Alibaba and JD no longer publish their own totals.
The sale has spread across Asia and into other regions, and travel sells on it too. Asian travel platforms such as Fliggy, Trip.com and Klook have run 11.11 offers on hotels, flights, attractions and tours, and Fliggy has reported a rise in people buying travel now and choosing dates later. Those promotions are mainly aimed at shoppers in Asia, and we did not find Canada-specific vacation-package sales under the 11.11 name, so treat Singles Day as a prompt to start planning rather than a promise of a sale.
For a solo traveller the number that matters most is the price for one. Many packages are priced per person based on two people sharing a room, and a traveller on their own may pay a single supplement on top. Some Canadian packagers advertise solo-traveller offers or waive the supplement at selected resorts and dates, and others do not. Searching with one adult on TripRadr shows what each travel site charges for a single traveller, so the comparison starts from the real price for you.
How to compare
A headline price is usually for two people. These steps get you to the price for one.
In the travellers box, choose one room with one adult so the prices are for you alone.
Pick your departure airport, destination or resort, date and nights in the search above.
See the same package across Canadian travel sites in CAD and check which charge a single supplement.
Click through to the travel site you prefer and confirm the room and what is included before you pay.
Before you book
It is the extra charge for occupying a room built for two. Compare the total for one traveller, not the per-person price for two.
Some travel sites advertise solo offers or no single supplement on selected resorts, dates and room types. Check the terms.
Adults-only all-inclusive resorts can suit people travelling alone. Resort pages show which are adults-only.
A solo rate may use a specific room type and have stricter change terms. Read them before you book.

Read what each destination is like, when it is at its best and what to know before you go, then compare packages for one.

Five shopping events fall between early November and the end of December. Each has its own page with the same side-by-side comparison, so you can plan which sale to watch.
A sale price only helps if it lands on a date that suits you. Best Time to Go shows the lowest price for every day of a month on routes from your airport, so you can see whether the Singles Day price is really a good one.
Who we compare
TripRadr does not sell trips. It lines up the same package from several Canadian travel sites so you can see who is cheapest for your dates, then you book with the site you pick. Read how each one works first:
