Frequently asked questions
TripDocs: FAQs
What is TripDocs?
TripDocs is a free TripRadr tool that turns your travel confirmations, from hotels and flights to tours, event tickets and cruises, into one clear day-by-day trip page. You upload the documents and check what we read. Then you share the page by private link, with a 4-digit access code on by default, or with invited people only.
Do I need an account?
You need a free TripRadr account to build a trip, because your trips are saved to it and you manage them there. For the people you share with, it depends on how you share. With Anyone with the link, they open the link and enter the 4-digit access code, which is on by default and which you can turn off; no account is needed. With Invited people only, each person you invite signs in, or creates a free account, with the email address you invited.
Which documents can I upload?
Upload a PDF, or a photo or screenshot (JPG or PNG), of a travel confirmation, up to 15 MB each. TripDocs reads hotels, flights, trains, car rentals, transfers, tours and attractions, event tickets, cruises and other travel documents, including vacation packages, from any travel site, airline or other provider. If your confirmation came by email, upload the PDF or a screenshot of the email. Documents that aren't about travel are declined.
How are my documents used and kept?
An AI service reads your documents to pull out the trip details, and you review the result before sharing. We delete the original files 90 days after the trip's end date, or about a year after upload if a trip has no dates, and files from failed uploads after 30 days. The trip details you confirmed stay until you delete the trip or your account. You can also delete a trip yourself at any time.
Who can see my trip page?
You choose. With Anyone with the link, only people who have the link can open the page, and while the 4-digit access code is on (it is by default) they also need the code; the page locks after repeated wrong tries. With Invited people only, only the people you invited by email can open it, after signing in with that address, and you decide whether each of them can view or also edit the trip. The shared page is not listed in search engines, and guests see your plans and confirmation numbers, but never prices, seat or cabin details, or your private notes. You can reset the link or set a new access code whenever you like, and if you turn sharing off the link stops working.
Where do the hotel details and photos come from?
We look up your hotel in Google Maps Platform place data and in TripRadr's own hotel information to add its address, rating and photos. Tours and attractions are looked up in Google Maps Platform too. Each photo shows its credit on the trip page. If we cannot find a good match, the item still appears with the details from your document.
Does TripRadr book or change my trip?
No. TripRadr does not sell or book travel, and TripDocs does not change your booking. TripDocs is for organizing what you already booked, so changes and cancellations still go through the provider you booked with. Trip and flight text reminders are coming soon.
Can I edit the information?
Yes. After TripDocs reads your documents you can check every item and edit anything that looks wrong, from names and dates to times and places. You can also add items by hand, move them or delete them, and the shared page shows your latest version.
Can I download the itinerary?
Yes. Guests can print the shared trip page or add the trip to their calendar, and most browsers can save the page as a PDF from the print window. You can turn both off with Allow guests to download itinerary. There is no separate PDF file download yet.
Is it really free to use?
Yes. TripDocs is free to use for now, both for building a trip and for the people you share it with. You need a free TripRadr account to build a trip. The people you share with need only the link (and the access code while it is on), or, if you invite them, a free account with the invited email address.
