How Aeroplan works when you book travel

A few simple steps to make sure your next trip earns, and uses, Aeroplan.

  1. Join Aeroplan

Membership is free. Have your Aeroplan number ready before you book.

  2. Book a package with the offer badge

Extra-points offers apply to packages marked with a badge at booking. The list of eligible packages can change.

  3. Add your number before you travel

Add every traveller's Aeroplan number to the reservation before departure or at check-in. Numbers added after travel earn nothing.

  4. Complete the trip and collect

Everyone must complete all travel, and cancelling any component makes the booking ineligible. Points post within 6 to 8 weeks.

When Aeroplan makes sense

  • Air Canada flyers who book Air Canada Vacations packages from Canadian airports
  • Travellers who want fixed, predictable points on a package no matter the price
  • Elite members who want the 2X to 6X multiplier on package points

Things to watch out for

  • Package points are fixed by destination and cabin, not by what you spend, so a pricier package does not earn more
  • Extra-points offers have minimum stays, per-member caps and cannot be combined with other offers
  • Children aged 2 to 12 earn 50% of the amount, and children under 2 are not eligible
  • Extra points are not Status Qualifying Credits, and Air Canada Vacations can change or end an offer

Common questions about Aeroplan

How do I earn Aeroplan points on a vacation package?

On Air Canada Vacations packages you earn a fixed number of points set by your destination and cabin, for example 500 points in economy to the Americas. Select packages also earn extra points. Add your Aeroplan number before you travel.

How many extra Aeroplan points can I earn on a package?

At last check, up to 20,000 extra points on select Caribbean, Mexico and U.S. packages with a 7-night minimum, up to 12,000 on Las Vegas and more with a 4-night minimum, and up to 4,000 on select Canadian packages. Offers have caps and conditions. Extra-points offers apply to packages marked with a badge at booking, and the list of eligible packages can change. Confirm current terms before you book.

Do elite members earn more on packages?

Yes. Elite members earn 2X to 6X through the Elite Points Multiplier, based on the fixed points on the package. Extra offer points are excluded from the multiplier unless the offer says otherwise.

Can I use Aeroplan points to pay for a vacation package?

Air Canada Vacations says points can be redeemed online for packages to all destinations, including flight and cruise packages. Check the booking page for the points price of your package. Offers can change, so confirm current terms before you book. Points you earn on a package are fixed by destination and cabin rather than by price.

When do the points post to my account?

Within 6 to 8 weeks after the last component of the trip is completed. Everyone on the booking must complete all travel, and cancelling the flight or another component makes it ineligible. Add every traveller's Aeroplan number to the reservation before departure or at check-in. Numbers added after travel earn nothing.

Does TripRadr run Aeroplan?
