CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite FAQs

What is the annual fee on the CIBC Aventura Visa Infinite?

The fee is $139 a year. CIBC's current offer rebates the first year for the primary cardholder and up to three authorized users added at application. Additional cards cost $50 each.

How do I redeem Aventura points?

Flights are booked through the CIBC Rewards Centre using the Aventura Airline Rewards Chart, which sets points by region and a maximum base fare. You can also use points for hotels, cars and packages, or in a Flexible Travel Reward that mixes points and card payment. Points can be applied to shopping and payments at a ratio CIBC sets and can change.

Does the Aventura include lounge access?

Yes, 4 complimentary lounge visits per membership year through the Visa Airport Companion Program, shared with guests. Enrolment is required, and extra visits cost US$32 per person. That is useful for occasional flyers but not for frequent lounge users.

What travel insurance does it include?

CIBC lists emergency medical of up to $5 million for the first 15 days if you are 64 or under and the first 3 days if you are 65 or older. It also lists trip cancellation up to $1,500 per person and trip interruption up to $2,000 per person. Many coverages need the cost charged to the card, and some are excess insurance.

Is there a foreign transaction fee?

Yes, CIBC applies a 2.5% foreign currency conversion fee on its credit cards according to its published fee summary. For spending abroad a no-fee card may be cheaper. The fee schedule covers all CIBC cards, so check your cardholder agreement.
